Community Driven
We pride ourselves on our commitment to the community in which we live. Through its sponsorship of local educational, safety, and awareness programs, the department demonstrates our dedication to those we serve.
Citizens police academy
In 2019, the department implemented its first ever Citizens Police Academy. The academy promotes an understanding between the community and law enforcement through education and interaction. The academy offers courses in basic law enforcement, traffic laws, 911 communications, demonstrations, and hands-on practical exercises.
Community Education Programs
A partnership in any community begins with education. The department participates in and hosts community education programs for children, youth, and adults.
departmental
initiatives
We realize that a strong community- driven policing program can not be successful without compassion. The department implemented its Trunk Treasures program in 2019 to help ease the burden on children when interacting with law enforcement. During routine traffic stops where children are present, we give them a surprise toy to ease their fears and randomly provide treats to children during routine patrols.
