Keurig Dr Pepper and KaBOOM! Award City of Bolivar Let’s Play Construction Grant

Updated: Jan 25, 2019

Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) and the national non-profit KaBOOM! awarded the City of Bolivar a Let’s Play Community Construction Grant that will be used to build a playground at 618 N. Water St. in the East Bolivar neighborhood at the Bolivar Housing Authority.

The playground build is made possible by Let’s Play, an initiative by KDP to provide the funding, equipment and play spaces to help kids and families make active play a daily priority. Through Let’s Play, KDP and its partners are committed to helping create safe and inspiring PLAYces for Bolivar kids to learn, explore, grow and just be kids.

“Bolivar is a small community with wonderful group of citizens. It is my goal to ensure that Bolivar continues to grow and be a great place to live, work and raise a family. By building this playground our children will be able to enjoy hours of outdoor playtime that will enhance their quality of life” said Julian McTizic, Mayor of the City of Bolivar.

“This playground will provide area resident children a better quality of life by getting them outside to enjoy hours of playtime and bring our community together” said Micheal Miller, Director of Bolivar Housing Authority.

Curtis Stack, Director of Parks and Recreation said “This community build playground will support our mission to enhance the lives of our children, provide safe high quality equipment and improve the neighborhood.”

This grant will provide a playground for children in the East Bolivar neighborhood. It will offer a fun place for children to run, play, climb and swing. This neighborhood was chosen due to being the most heavily populated area in Bolivar and children in this area currently do not have access to play equipment.

KDP has committed $38.5 million to Let’s Play through 2019, impacting youth-serving organizations across the U.S., as well as Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Through Let’s Play, KDP partners with two non-profit organizations, KaBOOM! and Good Sports, to build and improve playgrounds in under-served communities and provide grants for sports equipment. In this way, KDP is doing its part to help eliminate the play deficit by making active play possible for more kids.
