Mayor Julian McTizic and Bolivar Main Street Director Kenneth Griggs announced today that Mrs. Lisa Hodge has been selected as the grand marshal for the 2019 City of Bolivar Christmas parade. Mrs. Hodge, the owner of Joe’s Restaurant, was chosen for her invaluable contributions for the benefit of Bolivar.
Lisa purchased Joe’s Restaurant in 2005 when it was located on East Main Street across from the Hardeman County Courthouse in the downtown historic district. On February 28, 2007, Joe’s Restaurant, along with several other businesses, burned in a downtown fire that consumed almost an entire block.
Lisa reopened Joe’s Restaurant for a brief period at 318 East Market Street before moving to the current location at 1410 West Market Street on October 3, 2007. Joe’s Restaurant has hosted icons such as Jerry “The King” Lawler and Phillip Fulmer in the past years. We would be remiss if we did not note that Lisa is Bolivar’s #1 UT VOLS fan! #GBO
Mrs. Hodge is also an avid supporter of youth athletics in Bolivar and in Hardeman County. She is a huge Tigers fan supporting the local school teams through advertising, meals, and financial support.
Lisa is a staunch advocate for breast cancer awareness and non-Hodgkins lymphoma awareness and has been personally affected by both.
Lisa has been married to Lynn Hodge for 35 years. They have two sons, Justin and Jonathan (Nicole), and two grandchildren, Neyland and Maisie, with another granddaughter due in April.
“Lisa has been a tremendous supporter of the Bolivar Fire Department and first responders. She has supported the Patriot Day Breakfast for our first responders since its inception almost 10 years ago. She has further provided assistance and support to citizens and families affected by fire loss. You just can’t find a better person than Lisa Hodge,” said Fire Chief Lynn Price.
“Lisa is a one-of-a-kind. She is the most genuine, caring, and kind-hearted person you will ever meet. She greets everyone with a smile and epitomizes hospitality in Bolivar,” said Mayor Julian McTizic. “We are lucky to have her.”
