March’s neighbor is Mr. Algie Jarett, Jr. We caught up with Algie as he was setting up his grill and food truck, known as AJ’S BBQ Smoke House, at the intersection of Tennessee and West Market Streets. I must say, he had that corner of Tennessee Street smelling good.
Algie is married to his lovely wife, Geneva, and has three (3) children. He is a proud graduate of Bolivar Central High School. Algie credits Mr. Ray Chism as his inspiration to delve off into the world of barbecue cooking. He said that it brought together the best of both worlds - people and food - and he loves both. He serves up everything from leg quarters to ribs to barbecue nachos, and you can tell by his enthusiasm that he loves what he does. He recommends his leg quarters claiming that they are not only his best entrée, but his personal favorite!
